I have owned two different headlamps, you know those ones that have the straps and huge light right on the forehead and leave the marks when you are done? Yeah, those. I was so excited at the opportunity to try a hat with lights in it instead! I can definitely get down with a hat and I was hopeful about how it would feel on my head.
When I received the hat it was SO LIGHTWEIGHT! With other headgear I would run and feel it being heavy enough that it would be bopping around. This was not that case. You wouldn’t really even notice that lights were on this as it feels like a feather and the battery pack is small under the cloth so you con’t even feel it.
I loved that there were lights on the front, but also on the back! I felt like the lights in front helped me see and the red blinking lights helped make me feel safe and alert others of where I was at on the road.
The hat features include:
- Multiple LEDs on Front and Back
- Easy On/Off Switch
- Replaceable Batteries – CR2032
- Vents for Breathability
- 128 Lumes
I did a comparison of the view with my hat off versus on. I wanted to show how much the hat itself lit up the ground in front of me. I want to add that you can obviously adjust the brim of the hat and where it sits on your head to change how far in front you want to see. Are you someone who looks straight down or do you want to see further? Just change the positioning on your head.
I 100% support running products that help me feel safer when I am running and this is one of them. I completely would recommend this hat or visor for anyone who runs in the dark. But also it can be useful for any activity where light is dim, even walking to the mailbox after work when it gets dark around 4:30pm now. Just think of all the options outside of running that this hat is useful for!
