What’s next in terms of my race schedule? It’s been two weeks since the Mo’ Cowbell Half Marathon. There are still no photos out there to show I participated, just the finish video. Completely okay though, because your girl was out there powering through. I’ve currently been running and lifting/rehabbing. It may be a stupid decision to continue running, but here is my thought process. I took about 2 weeks off without running and it did not help my knee. My knee does not hurt, it is just uncomfortable. More nagging and annoying. It also can go off and on during a run. So I will continue to train while taking more priority into some rehab exercises.
This decision also came up because there is a race nearby that I have wanted to do since we moved here and something always gets in the way. Last year I got COVID and couldn’t go. It’s 10 miles on flat trail, so the surface will be gentler. This race will be in a little over 2 weeks.
Then I will probably do the Hot Chocolate Series because I do that every year that I can. I haven’t decided between 5k or 10k distance, but am leaning towards a 5k.
In January I have a local 5k that I will be doing and then it’s half marathon training time again!
You read that right. I already registered for the Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon and booked the hotel before I even ran my last one! This was the half marathon I was supposed to run in 2020 until COVID canceled it. So, I am excited to get the chance to run it in 2024. I hear it’s flat and fast and I would love to see that PR. I just have to get my knee in shape. The race is April 27th.
Then every year I do the Make Tracks Through the Zoo 5k in St. Louis and that is typically at the end of May.
This is all of my “planned” races that I know of at this moment. I’m sure there may be a few more local races sprinkled in as they get announced. Or maybe even another Mo’ Cowbell half marathon, who knows what 2024 holds outside of what is already on my race schedule.
