We are officially complete with 4 weeks of Mo’ Cowbell Half Marathon training. Mo’ Cowbell has the following distances for 2024: marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K. The plan I am following loosely is an 18 week plan. Let’s do a little recap, shall we?
First the details you may want to know!

Week 1 of Mo’ Cowbell Training
I eased into training with just 3 days of running for week 1. That wasn’t intentional, it was life.
- Monday – 2.73 miles @ 11:21 pace
- Wednesday – 4.1 miles @ 11:03 pace
- workout of 4×1:00, 2×2:00,4×30 sec with avg pace of 7:41
- Thursday – 3 miles @ 9:28 pace
- Total miles = 9.83 miles for week 1
Week 2 of Mo’ Cowbell Training
- Tuesday – 3 miles @ 10:10 pace
- workout of 12x100m with avg pace of 5:55
- Wednesday – 3 miles @ 10:19 pace
- Thursday – 2.72 miles @ 11:04 pace
- Sunday – 6 miles @ 10:08 pace
- Total miles = 14.72 miles for week 2
Week 3 of Mo’ Cowbell Training
- Monday – 3 treadmill miles @ 13:37 pace
- Tuesday – 4.57 miles @ 11:12 pace
- 1 mile @ 10k effort, 5x200m, 1 mile @ 5k effort – avg pace 7:56
- Thursday – 2.5 treadmill miles @ 12:10 pace
- Saturday – 7 miles @ 10:01 pace
- Total miles = 17.07 miles for week 3
Week 4 of Mo’ Cowbell Training
- Monday – 4 miles @ 10:21 pace
- Tuesday – 3 stroller miles @ 11:35 pace (Kaylea wanted to go running with me!)
- Wednesday – 1.5 treadmill miles (failed workout. Ended up just doing .5 warmup and 2x.5 and calling it quits)
- Thursday – 2.36 miles @ 9:16 pace
- Sunday – 7 miles @ 9:38 pace
- Total miles = 17.86 miles for week 4
There we have it. A full 4 weeks of training down with 14 more to go. My knee is holding up. I’m continuing to do my strength training and also get treatment on it at least 1x a week. Just crossing my fingers that it can make it through the training!
