This leash is
When the opportunity to test out a Stunt Puppy Leash through Bibrave came my way, I hesitated at first. I have never run with my dog before and he’s also 11 years old, but still acts like a puppy at times. He is very territorial and does not like other animals. So, of course my first thought was, “he won’t be suitable for this.”
I’m already flashing forward and seeing him dart in all directions trying to sniff everything, or getting distracted by an animal and trying to chase it. I was just imagining being pulled in all directions and ultimately being tripped and faceplanting on the ground.
Totally normal thoughts, right?! I’m sure a lot of other dog parents may agree that they are scared to run with their animal. I was also worried with his age that he wouldn’t be able to handle runs, because we have never done them before.
My other thought was that I haven’t been able to run, so what use would I have with this leash if I couldn’t run.
But then I started thinking about how much fun it would be to have a partner with me. I also was thinking how we didn’t have to run and that it would be great for walking and how we could start incorporating those into our days. The more I thought about it, I thought it was worth the shot!
I am SO GLAD I gave the Stunt Puppy a chance and put my fears behind me. He LOVES the leash. We started with a simple walk to the mailbox down the neighborhood and I loved being hands free to grab the mail and packages. Normally I’m trying to keep him wrangled in as I try and juggle my mail and I end up dropping things and it looks like chaos. So, a huge win in that category!
We then upped our game into a slight jog around the neighborhood and he just loved feeling free and just wanted to make me go faster. I will be looking into a good harness as he did keep choking himself from going too fast and the leash was connected to his collar. So, I will look into a harness with a clip on his back so that doesn’t happen.
Yes, my dog is not perfect and he did change directions on me a few times because he was following smells. However I was able to react and adapt with him. No one was injured and that was my biggest fear on what would happen if he tried to change directions. The Stunt Puppy Stunt Runner is also loose enough that it will move on it’s own around your waist, at least for me it did. This helped to make it to where I wouldn’t trip.
So, then we upgraded our jog to a little over a mile of running/walking and I can honestly say it was amazing. I loved being able to keep my running form and have my arms naturally swinging the way they would if I did not have a dog with me. This is huge for me. I mean, have you ever ran with something in your hand and just feel slight changes in your running form? That could just be me, but it changes things and especially when trying to manage an animal. The Stunt Puppy has been amazing!
Other fun details about the Stunt Puppy Stunt Runner Leash are the following:
- Floating D-ring on the waist belt keeps your dog in the sweet spot without tugging on the waist belt
- Flex in the bungee section absorbs variances in stride, speed and direction
- Length adjustment allows dogs to run ahead, out wide or behind without creating a drag or drop on the leash when running in close and accommodates taller or smaller dogs
- Static portion provides an emergency grab-handle
We don’t glue our materials together or sew like Grandma; we stitch ’em right and tight. This super strong stitch is the same one used on climbing harnesses and firefighters’ gear.
Buckles are one of the key safety features in any leash or collar. So when it comes to buckles, we don’t mess around: We use the best ones on the market. Our Weinerlock® collar buckles can handle up to 225 pounds of pull.
