Digital Magazines
I LOVE magazines, but if you go back to my childhood room you would’ve found Nylon magazine stacks everywhere. Why?! Because we have this sense of “I may need to look at that again,” when thinking to a book it mentioned, recipe featured, or photo you may want. Fast forward to today where I almost hate getting magazines in the mail (free ones still come in the mail.) I love the ability to read magazines digitally. Why?
- Clickable links – in the digital magazines, all the links or references are clickable. So if I’m reading and want to go look at something they mention, I can just click it and voila!
- Screenshots! This is by FAR my favorite thing. In my DIY magazines I can screenshot things I think are cute. From here you could pin it or just save it digitally somewhere for later reference. But I also enjoy screen-shotting recipes. This way I can just check the picture and once I have everything I enjoyed from the magazine, I can delete it off the ipad.
- Any magazine the library offers! So through your library you can check out any magazine subscription they have (which is a lot!) I have my library here in Columbia, but also the one back home. This offers more chances to get every magazine I like. I will say though, neither offers Women’s Running, otherwise I think all my magazines I read are on there.
These are the major reasons, but I’m sure I can think of more. The two apps I use for the magazines are:
Flipster and Zinio
Flipster is the newest because my library back home switched from Zinio over to Flipster. Unfortunately, Flipster with my library has a 1 week expiration, which is totally fine because magazines don’t take long to read. But on Zinio, I download a ton and just keep them on there until I read them.
This is great to do before a trip because you can download them to your ipad so you can have them without wifi! Genius! My last plane adventure was filled with joy reading magazines!
Hulu
Yes, I have jumped on the Hulu bandwagon. We have had Netflix for quite some time, but as I’ve had a lot of free time, I decided to utilize the free trial period for Hulu. Especially because they offered some shows I planned on binge watching and wanted some good quality and no breaks between episodes. We already dove into some documentaries and also enjoy Doug, Rugrats and Hey Arnold for quick episodes before bed.
Colored/Good Working Pens
PaperMate InkJoy Gel Pens are GREAT for that easy glide and no smearing. They also don’t go through paper which is nice when wanting to use both sides of the paper. So if you are looking for more of a gel pen, this is the one you should get!
PaperMate Felt Tip Flair Pens are my other favorite colored pens. These are fantastic for easy glide but more of a marker style. I love them because they are easy to use, cute and have so many varieties of color. However, on thin paper these kind of show through, but nothing crazy like a sharpie.
