We will be driving to the race and it’s about a 5 hour drive, but more like 5.5 with bathroom breaks, more than likely. When you are trying to hydrate, you know you’ll have to stop. We will also probably grab lunch somewhere.
I knew I wanted to have some travel snacks or hotel room snacks. I was more than excited to bop over to Target and browse for snacks.
- Propel – I love Propel and wanted to have it to hydrate with before and after my race.
- Hydroflask – I will be taking this one to fit in the cup holder in the car and probably also my other 32 oz one to have filled up as well. We are also taking a pack of bottled water to have in the hotel for backup water.
- Honeystinger waffles – I love these pre-run.
- This trail mix from Target has become my favorite. I wanted it for a snack!
- Starbucks Frappuccino – This took me forever to decide upon. I have liked these in the past, and decided I wanted some caffeine pre-half marathon but also added calories, so I grabbed this big one to probably drink half before my 5k and half before my half marathon.
- Benton’s Cookie Thins – We got these at Aldi and also love them for sweet treats.
- Starburst mini’s – This time I grabbed just the pink and red. I plan on putting some in a plastic bag and having in my pocket for during the half if I need a boost. Plus, snackable treat 🙂
- Cheez-It’s – I love Cheez-It’s and also got these for a salty treat. The Grooves one was an impulse buy because it was 2 for $5 and I know I didn’t have to get another, but I haven’t had the Grooves kind and the taco flavor was intriguing.
- Peanut Butter Crackers – Also easy on my stomach before a run. Thought these would go well with a Honeystinger to be light on my stomach but pack in some calories.
So there you go. There’s a sneak peek into my snacks. I can’t guarantee how much will be eaten along our weekend trip, but having them on deck will be helpful. I don’t ever want to feel unprepared, or hungry. Then I had to think about my agenda, because it’s not just a race weekend, it’s also BibRave Summit. So I had to think of what I need to wear. When you are a runner you have to pack twice the amount of clothes and then we have a dressed up night where I have to get semi-fancy. I’m just hopeful I didn’t forget anything.
We are staying at one of the host hotels – the Palmer House by Hilton and I actually got a better deal through my Hilton Honors, so I was pumped. Look how gorgeous this place looks!
I’m most excited about being close to the start. I think they said it was around .5 miles to the start and finish. That will be wonderful.
