This week was the start to redo the last three weeks of workouts. My very first workout I was so excited to redo and when I finished it I felt a little deflated, but I got over it quickly. My coach preaches patience and continuing to stay the course, and so I let my body do it’s thing and know the effort is adding up.
I think based on my three weeks of workouts and what I was capable of hitting in terms of speed, that my goal pace for the half marathon changed. Like I said in my last post, I’m not writing it off, but I’m preparing myself to not be disappointed. I have SO much running left, not only until my race but just in my life. I set a very high goal to just see how close I could get. But ultimately, I’m going to be thankful to finish and we will continue to build!
Tuesday: 4 miles @ 9:33 pace
I did a nice 4 mile run which I just so happened to negative split, not purposefully.

HR averaged 155 and I felt good. I wanted to test out my ankles and feet since they were bothering me a little bit. So here I am reminding you to put in more recovery and take time to stretch, roll out, theragun etc.
Wednesday: 3 on 2 off workout
This was the workout I was hoping to crush from last time. Which then made me look back at my times and I was a lot happier with my 1st attempt looking back than I was right after.
The differences I want to note, longer warm up and cool down and faster recovery in between. My first attempt I think I only hit those paces because I had some walking recovery. This time I focused on going out more comfortably in hopes to hang on without having to walk. Progress looks different when we look harder.
Sunday: 9 miles @ 9:19 pace
This was a 2 mile easy, 2 mile mod, 2 mile hard, 2 mile easy + 1 mile easy workout. I did this same workout three weeks ago but it was a 7 miler and I did 1.75 segments. Here’s the comparison.
Wrapped up the week with 18 miles versus the sad 10 of last week. Going to keep building and see if I can add in a fourth day of training and some strength work. Also trying to put more time towards recovery.
How’s your training going?!
